My name is Sasha Sleiman and I am a junior at Western Washington University in Bellingham Washington.  I am studying Political Science and International Relations. My father's family is Lebanese and because of this I have been driven to study the Middle East and its impact on International Relations. Currently, I am serving the State of Washington as the Student Member of the Higher Education Coordinating Board.  This opportunity has given me the chance to learn about education policy in Washington and be the voice of students around the state.  At the university, I am very involved in the Model United Nations program. I have been apart of this program since my freshman year and the experience has been extremely valuable to me on both an academic and personal level.  I will be Student Advisor of the program next year which will allow me to expand my experience from a delegate and participant to a leadership position.
