My name is Husna Najand and I was born and raised in New York City to Afghan parents. My upbringing consisted of a fusion of American and Afghan culture and ideals, and the multicultural dynamics of New York enhanced my global awareness and appreciation for diversity. The events of September 11th, and those following it, transformed my vague interest in politics into a profound force in my life.  I am currently a political science student at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with an emphasis on international relations and Middle Eastern studies. I have been residing in Las Vegas for the past eight years.
