Carlin Gettliffe

University of Rochester

A passionate traveler and adventurer, Carlin grew up in Boulder Colorado where he acquired a great love of the outdoors and learned to fly gliders.  After spending time in Switzerland and Peru during high school, Carlin moved to Rochester, NY to attend school at the University of Rochester.  Carlin took a gap year after his freshman year of college during which he worked, traveled, and volunteered in Europe, Australia, and India.  Carlin has pursued a variety of projects during his time in Rochester, many aimed at strengthening connections between college students and the city of Rochester.  He has founded a variety of events and groups, including ArtAwake, an art and music festival that drew over 1500 students and community members in its 2008 debut, the Urban Exploring Club, the Eastman/River Campus relationship building taskforce, Wild Goose, a city-wide scavenger hunt for incoming freshman, and the Rochester Mayor town hall meeting at the University of Rochester.  Carlin will graduate in 2009 with a self-created degree in Entrepreneurship.
