I'm Phillips Thomas, from Anniston, Alabama. I am a student at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa; I am majoring in international studies with a focus on Western Europe and minoring in French.  I am hoping to attend either law school and pursue international law or graduate school.  My interests in community-service learning courses at the Capstone have played a large role in my development as a mentor and in forming future plans.  Though I still have an active desire to work in an international setting, I want to begin working internationally after encouraging other communities to practice "charity beginning at home" and to do so in partnership with support from the nearby universities and/or community colleges.  Through the service-learning courses Alabama Action and Black Belt Action, I have seen what immediate, positive effects can result from both students and schools of different levels and backgrounds when cooperation is kept foremost in mind; I intend to see courses like these thrive in America and branch out abroad.
